Web design for removals companies, from £395
Your customer is not buying a van. They are buying the firm least likely to ruin the worst week of their year, and they are deciding weeks in advance with three tabs open.
We build removals sites that win that comparison: insurance stated, survey form worth filling in, real testimonials, actual faces. One of our live clients is a removals firm, and you can go and look at it.
A move is booked on trust, weeks before it happens
Removals is unusual. Most trades are bought in a hurry by somebody with a problem right now. Yours is bought weeks ahead by somebody who is already stressed, who is handing you everything they own, and who has been told a horror story by a friend. They are not shopping for the cheapest van. They are shopping for the firm least likely to ruin the worst week of their year.
That changes what the website has to do. A plumber's site has to make the phone ring in the next ten minutes. Yours has to survive a comparison. Somebody is sitting with three tabs open, and the one that wins is usually the one that looks most like a real company with real people, insurance that is named, a proper survey process, and reviews that sound like they were written by humans who moved house.
The firms that lose that comparison are rarely the worst movers. They are the ones whose only online presence is a listing on a lead site they pay per click for, sitting next to four competitors, being judged on a headline price for a job nobody has looked at yet.
What a removals website has to answer
Six things a stressed customer is checking for, whether or not they could tell you they are.
What you actually move
Domestic, office, single item, packing, dismantling, storage. Spelled out, because a customer who cannot find their job listed assumes you do not do it and closes the tab.
Insurance, in plain numbers
Goods in transit and public liability, stated with the cover level. This is the single most common thing people check and the most common thing missing from removals sites.
A survey request worth filling in
Postcodes, property size, floors, lift or no lift, date, awkward items. You get a form you can quote from instead of a name and the word hi.
The areas and routes you run
Where you are based, how far you go, and whether you do long distance. A customer moving two counties away needs to know before they type anything.
Testimonials as the customer wrote them
Real words about real moves, left unedited. Specific beats glowing every time.
Your vans, your crew, your faces
You are asking strangers to let you into their house. Photographs of actual people and actual liveried vans do more work here than any paragraph.
PK Removals
One of our live clients is a removals firm, so this is not a page written from the outside.
PK Removals
Live at pkremovals.uk, built and shipped by us, with our backlink in the footer. The site carries genuine client testimonials, kept word for word rather than tidied into marketing copy, because that is the part a nervous customer reads hardest.
Read the PK Removals case study for what we built and why, or see every client we have live.
We will tell you the honest limit of that proof too. PK are not on a monthly plan with us, they took the build and run it themselves, and that is a perfectly normal outcome. Not every client needs us every month.
What to do about Checkatrade and the comparison portals
We are not going to tell you to cancel them. If a lead site is bringing in jobs that pay, keep it. What we will tell you is that a business whose only route to market is a platform it does not own is one pricing change away from a bad year, and that every one of those leads arrives already compared on price.
The realistic plan is to run both and shift the balance over time. The site becomes the place you send everyone who finds you any other way: the van, the board outside the house, the recommendation from a friend, the Google search. Those people arrive with nobody else in the frame. Over a year, the proportion of your work that costs you a lead fee goes down, and the average job goes up, because uncompared customers do not haggle the same way.
See it before you pay anything
Tell us about the firm and within 48 hours we send you a link to a working removals site built for your business, not a template with your logo dropped on it. If it is wrong, you say so and you owe us nothing. No card, no deposit, no sales call to sit through.
If you want it, a straightforward site is £395 and a larger one with a survey system, storage pages and more depth is £650. A bigger build with the kind of booking and quoting workflow a multi-van firm needs is £1,200. You own whichever one you take.
A care plan afterwards is optional and starts at £45 a month with no minimum term. Plenty of our clients take the build and never take a plan, which is fine and we will say so rather than push it.
What removals firms ask us
Most of my work comes from Checkatrade and comparison sites. Is that not enough?
It is work, but it is the worst kind of work to depend on. On a comparison site you arrive alongside four other firms, the customer is shopping on price before they have heard a word from you, and the lead costs you money whether you win it or not. A customer who finds your own site has not been handed three rivals with the same click. They are reading your words, your photos and your reviews, and when they call you they have usually already decided. Keep the platforms, but stop letting them own the relationship.
Should I put a price calculator on a removals site?
An instant quote calculator sounds good and usually backfires, because the number is wrong often enough to cost you trust on the day. What works far better is a survey request that asks the right questions up front: postcodes both ends, property size, floor and lift, date flexibility, and whether there is anything awkward like a piano or a shed. You get a form you can price off, and the customer feels like they have been asked proper questions rather than fed a slot machine.
How do I stop people asking for a van and two men at 8am tomorrow?
By saying, plainly and early, what you do and what you do not. A page that states minimum job sizes, notice periods and the areas you cover will turn away the jobs you were going to turn away anyway, except it does it before you pick up the phone. Firms are often nervous about this because it feels like refusing work. In practice it raises the average job because the people who still call are the people who read it and were fine with it.
Do I need separate pages for each town I cover?
Sometimes, and only if the page has something real to say about that town. A page that is your standard copy with the town name swapped in is worse than nothing, because Google can tell and so can the reader. A page that talks about the actual streets with no parking, the storage sites you use, the routes you run weekly and the jobs you have done there is a genuinely useful page. We would rather build you four honest ones than forty thin ones.
My best proof is that people recommend me. How does that go on a website?
As words from the customer, on the page, near the thing they are talking about. PK Removals has real client testimonials on their site, kept exactly as written, because a stranger believes a specific sentence about a specific move far more than a marketing claim. What we do not do, on their site or anybody else's, is print a star average. If you want the number, we send people to the place the reviews actually live and let them count.
Towns with a page of their own
We are a Southampton studio and we work wherever the job is. These towns have a page of their own on what the local market looks like and who you are up against.
Other trades, and four plain guides
Each trade has a page of its own. The guides cover what a site costs, how a directory listing compares, your Google listing, and paying in parts.
