Domains & business email

Your own name online, and email that lands

A proper web address and a professional email address, like you@yourbusiness.co.uk, instead of a gmail or hotmail one. We set it up, move over what you already have without losing mail, and keep it renewed. Your domain and one business email address are included on every plan.

Why it matters

The small details a customer notices first

Your web address and your email address are on your van, your invoices and every quote you send. They are often the first thing a new customer sees, before they have read a word about your work.

A professional address

you@yourbusiness.co.uk reads as an established business. It matches your website, it looks right on a quote, and it is easy for a customer to remember and find again.

Yours to keep

The domain is yours, with your site, your words and your photos. If you ever leave us, we hand it all over. Cancelling a care plan is a one-message job.

Never left to lapse

On a care plan the renewal is ours to pay and ours to remember, so your site and your email never go dark because a reminder went to an old inbox.

Email that lands

Set up so your emails reach the inbox, not the junk folder

Three settings on your domain decide whether other inboxes trust your email. Nobody sees them and most people never hear of them, but when they are missing or wrong, quotes and invoices can quietly end up in junk. We set all three for you.

SPF: who is allowed to send as you

A short public note on your domain listing the services allowed to send email from your address. Email that claims to be from you but comes from anywhere else looks suspicious to the inbox receiving it.

DKIM: a signature on every email

Every email you send carries a hidden signature that the receiving inbox checks against your domain. It proves the email really came from you and was not changed on the way.

DMARC: what to do with fakes

Tells other inboxes what to do with an email that claims to be you but fails those two checks. It makes it much harder for someone to send scams in your name to your own customers.

Moving over

Bring your domain and email with you, without losing mail

Most people who come to us already have a domain, and often an email address on it. That is fine. Switching website should never cost you a single email.

We look before we touch anything

Before changing a thing we write down how your domain and your email are set up today, including every setting your email relies on.

The site moves, the email stays put

Pointing your domain at a new website only changes the settings for the website. We never touch or break your existing email when we switch your site, so your inbox keeps working through the move.

Moving your email too, if you want to

If you are moving to a new business email address, we set the new mailbox up first and only then switch over, so mail always has somewhere to arrive.

We check it afterwards

Once the switch is done we check the site loads on your domain and that your email still sends and arrives.

Fantastic service from SH Studios. They were friendly, polite and professional. They talked us through all our options and explained everything clearly with ease. Nothing was too much trouble.

Questions

Domains and email, answered

Is the domain mine?

Yes. Your domain is yours, along with your site, your words and your photos. If you ever stop working with us, we hand it all over, and cancelling a care plan is a one-message job.

I already have a domain. Is that a problem?

No, that is the usual case. We need access to wherever it is registered today. We point it at your new site and leave your email settings exactly as they are, so nothing you rely on stops working.

Will my email stop working when you switch my website?

No. Before we change anything we write down how your email is set up. Switching a website only changes the settings for the website, so we leave the email ones alone, then check your email still sends and arrives once the switch is done.

What do SPF, DKIM and DMARC mean?

They are three settings on your domain that tell other inboxes your email is genuine. SPF lists who is allowed to send as you, DKIM puts a signature on every email you send, and DMARC says what to do with fakes. Set properly, your emails are far more likely to land in the inbox and far harder for someone else to fake.

How much does it cost?

Your domain and one business email address are included on every care plan, from £45 a month. The £650 Business build includes professional email too. If you are not on a plan, domain renewal is £45 a year.

Can I have more than one email address?

Yes. One business email address is included on every plan. If you need addresses for staff or for different parts of the business, tell us how many and we will tell you what it costs before we set anything up.
