Leaving Yell or Checkatrade?
Plenty of the trades we talk to pay one or both, and most can't remember when the contract ends. Here is what their own terms say, what to sort out before you cancel anything, and how we move you over without a single day offline.

Yell websites: 12 months minimum, then monthly
Yell's help centre says its Websites, Stores and Videos contracts run for a 12-month minimum term and then continue monthly. Once the minimum term has passed, you cancel by ringing their customer care team.
Yell does not publish a price list for websites, so we won't guess at yours. Your contract or your last invoice has the real figure.

Checkatrade: a listing, renewed every 12 months
Checkatrade is a directory listing, not a website. We do not print its prices here: it sets them, they differ by trade, area and membership level, and they change. Fixed plans run for 12 months, and approved services renew unless you cancel inside the renewal window.
If Checkatrade sends you good jobs, keep it. A listing and a website do different jobs. What we would question is paying for a listing and having no site of your own for those customers to check before they ring. We compare the two fairly in Checkatrade or your own website.

Five things to sort before you cancel
- Find your end date. It is in your contract or confirmation email. Put the renewal window in your calendar, because missing it can mean another year.
- Check who owns your domain name. If it is registered to you, it comes with you. If it is registered to the provider, ask them in writing to transfer it to you.
- Save your photos and your words. Anything you wrote or took is yours, so keep a copy before the old site goes.
- Know which reviews move. Checkatrade reviews stay on Checkatrade. Google reviews sit on your Google listing, so they stay with you.
- Switch nothing off until the new site is live. There should never be a day when a customer searches for you and finds nothing.
How the move works with us
We build a preview first
Send us your current site or listing and we build a real preview of your new site inside 48 hours, using your own photos and words where they are good. It is free, and you owe nothing if you don't like it.
You decide
If you want it, the build is £395, £650 or £1,200 depending on size, and any of them can be split into three payments, same price. See what each one includes.
We pick the switch date with you
Usually the day your old contract lets you go. We point your domain at the new site that day, so there is no gap.
We keep your old links working
Where your old pages had their own addresses, we point each one at the matching new page, so Google and old bookmarks still land somewhere useful.
We connect your Google listing
Your Google Business Profile gets the new address on day one, because for most trades the listing with the map matters as much as the site.
What 36 months costs
Our price, multiplied out. Put your own quotes next to it.
We print our own prices and nobody else's. Ours are on the pricing page.
What people ask before they switch
Can I keep my domain name?
Yes, as long as it is registered to you, or your old provider transfers it to you. We then point it at the new site, so customers keep finding you at the address they already know. If you are not sure who holds it, send us the address and we will look it up for you.
Do I have to wait for my contract to end?
No. We can build the new site whenever you like and have it ready and waiting. Going live is a separate step, and most people time it for the day the old contract ends so they are never paying twice.
Will I lose my place on Google?
Moving a site can shuffle things for a few weeks while Google catches up. Keeping the same domain, pointing old page addresses at the new pages and linking your Google listing on day one is what keeps that short. No one can promise a position, and we won't.
Can I bring my Checkatrade reviews with me?
They stay on Checkatrade, and you can link to your profile from the new site. Your Google reviews live on your Google Business Profile, not on any website, so those stay with you whatever you change.
See the new site before you cancel the old one
We build a real preview in 48 hours. Like it, and we plan the switch around your end date. Don't, and you owe nothing.
