Web design in Bristol

We are not a Bristol studio. We are in Southampton, and a Bristol job with us is done by phone, video call and WhatsApp. That is less of a gamble than it sounds, because we build your site first and you look at it before paying anything. What we do know is the work Bristol trades actually do, and that is what this page is about.

We write every site by hand. No page builder, no forty plugins, no theme somebody else in Bristol is already using.

Who we build for here

The Bristol businesses we build for most

Bristol's inner suburbs are Victorian and Edwardian terraces, rows of them through Bedminster, Southville, Totterdown, Easton, Bishopston and Horfield. A lot of the city's trade work comes out of those houses, and a lot of the rest comes out of the industrial strip at St Philips Marsh.

Builders, loft and extension firms

Bristol terraces have lime mortar, soft brick and walls that five owners have moved already. Lofts and rear extensions in Bishopston and Southville are steady work, and the customer knows these houses are awkward. Your site needs to show you have done that exact house type before, with photos, not a stock picture of a new-build.

Damp, roofing and repointing

Old stone and brick on the slopes of Totterdown and Windmill Hill take a beating. Roofers and damp specialists get found in an emergency, on a phone, often in the rain. The number and a clear line on the areas you cover have to be the first thing on screen, not a slider.

Motor trade and van-based firms

St Philips Marsh is Bristol's inner-city industrial corridor, full of motor traders and trade counters, and Avonmouth has its own estates. Mobile mechanics and garages here compete with booking sites. A simple page with your prices for common jobs and a way to book a slot can take that work back.

More on this: websites for builders, websites for roofers and websites for garages.

What you are up against

What you are actually up against in Bristol

Search roofer Bristol and the top of the page is Checkatrade, then a handful of established roofing firms with years of pages behind them. Bristol also has an awkward problem Southampton does not: Bristol is a place name in Pennsylvania and Connecticut too, so a site that does not clearly say Bristol, England, BS postcodes and the districts it covers is making Google guess.

What works is being specific. A page that names Bedminster, Southville and Totterdown, shows a loft you did on a terrace that looks like the searcher's, and gives a phone number that works at seven in the morning will beat a generic city page. Most small Bristol trades are not doing that, which is the opening.

Pure Luxe Cleaning, Newport, Cardiff & Bristol

Gold on noir to sell the 'detail is our signature' promise, with its own landing page for Newport, Cwmbran, Cardiff and Bristol, plus pages for deep cleans, ovens, end-of-tenancy turnarounds and house clearance. Every one routes into a single quote form.

Cleaning across three cities, so the site had to work for a business that travels to the work.

Questions

Web Design in Bristol: three questions we get asked

Do you use templates or a page builder?

No. Every page is written by hand for your business, which is a large part of why it loads quickly on a phone. There is no bought theme underneath it and no builder subscription to keep paying.

What happens once the site is live?

That is up to you. If you want us to keep looking after it, that is a care plan, at £45, £85 or £150 a month, and you can stop whenever you like. What each plan covers is on the care plan page.

Would a Bristol firm be better off with a Bristol agency?

Maybe, if you want to sit in their office in Temple Quarter. We are in Southampton, so it is phone, video and WhatsApp with us. The difference is that we build the site first. You see your own business on a real link, and only then decide. If a Bristol agency will do that, great. Most want a deposit and a discovery meeting before you have seen a thing.
