Web design in Edinburgh
We are not in Edinburgh. We are two founders, one in Hampshire and one in Cheshire, and we work with Scottish businesses by phone, video call and WhatsApp. That is fine because you see your site before you pay a penny. We build it first, you go through it properly, and you only go ahead when it reads like your business. No trips north needed on either side.
We write every site by hand. No page builder, no forty plugins, no theme somebody else in Edinburgh is already using.
A website that does one job: get the phone to ring
A plain list, no sales talk. This is what you are paying for.
- Set up so Google can read it: titles, descriptions, schema, the lot
- Live on your own domain, with the email and DNS moved for you
- Your number, your WhatsApp and your quote form on every single screen
- Photos of your own work, sized properly so they do not crawl on mobile
- Every page written by hand, so it loads in under two seconds on 4G
- No page builder and no bought theme, so there is nothing in it to slow it down
The Edinburgh businesses we build for most
Edinburgh's work is shaped by its buildings and its visitors. The Old and New Towns are a World Heritage Site, with most of the buildings listed. Short-term lets need a licence. Around the centre, Stockbridge, Leith, Portobello and Bruntsfield each have their own high streets.
Sash windows, stonework and listed buildings
More than three quarters of the buildings in the World Heritage Site are listed, and changing windows or stonework usually needs listed building consent. Sash and case repair, stone cleaning and lime work are real specialisms here. If you do them, your site should show the jobs, the materials and the kind of buildings you have worked on, because the customer already knows cheap work will not get past the council.
Short-term lets and hosts
Edinburgh became Scotland's first short-term let control area in 2022, and every host has needed a licence since January 2025. The licence number has to be shown on listings and adverts. Hosts, cleaners and management firms all work around those rules. A host site that takes direct bookings needs the licence number on every page that advertises the let.
Independents in Stockbridge, Leith and Bruntsfield
Raeburn Place in Stockbridge, the Shore in Leith and the streets through Bruntsfield and Morningside are full of independent cafes, shops and salons. They compete on character, not price. Their sites should show the place, with real photographs, correct hours and a way to book or buy that works on a phone.
More on this: websites for builders.
What you are actually up against in Edinburgh
A trade search in Edinburgh usually shows the map box, then directories like Checkatrade, MyBuilder and Yell, then the firms. For specialist heritage work there are fewer genuine firms than you might expect, and many of their sites are old and hard to use on a phone. For lets, the big booking platforms take most of the search space.
A heritage firm that shows real listed building jobs, with streets or areas named where you can, will stand out quickly. A host with a site of their own gets repeat guests without a platform fee. In both cases, being specific about Edinburgh is what a generic national page cannot do.
Who we have actually built for near Edinburgh
We are not going to invent a client in Edinburgh to make this page look better. Here is the nearest one we can name, and you can go and open the site yourself.
Professor Personal Training, York
A neon-on-charcoal build for a PT whose line is 'train with a method, not a guess'. Programme breakdowns, a know-your-numbers flow and a WhatsApp-first enquiry route, built for in-person York clients and online coaching anywhere.
York is 161 miles from Edinburgh in a straight line.
Live on their own domain at professorpt.com. We built it first and they paid after.
There are more like it. Our work page has every live site we have built and where each one is. Anything we built on spec is on there too, labelled as a concept, so you can tell which is which.
Where we work around Edinburgh
We are not local to Edinburgh. These are the areas an Edinburgh business site usually needs to name.
- The Old Town and the Royal Mile
- The New Town
- Stockbridge and Raeburn Place
- Leith and the Shore
- Portobello and the east of the city
- Bruntsfield and Morningside
Web Design in Edinburgh: three questions we get asked
How long until it is live?
You see a real preview of your own site inside 48 hours. From the point you say yes, a small site is usually live inside a week, and most of that week is waiting on your photos and your domain login rather than on us.
What happens once the site is live?
That is up to you. If you want us to keep looking after it, that is a care plan, at £45, £85 or £150 a month, and you can stop whenever you like. What each plan covers is on the care plan page.
I run a short-term let. What does my website need to show?
Your licence number, clearly, on every page that advertises the let. Scottish rules require it on listings and adverts. Beyond that, the site should show what the property is actually like, where it is, what is included and how to book. We build the booking side so it works alongside any platforms you already use, and we put the licence details where a guest or the council would look for them.
